Get it? Because 7 ate 9. A joke is always funnier when you have to explain it.
I mentioned this in my Radio Show Progress report but the audio assignments have been my favorite part of the class, so I really enjoyed returning to them this week. It was also nice meeting with my groupmates this week to discuss our show and I think we’re all doing a good job. I’m excited to see what the finished product looks like.
Daily Creates
This week I did Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday’s Daily Creates.
Monday’s Daily Create was asking how we celebrate St. Patrick’s Day. Other than wearing green, I don’t have any traditions so I shared a video that I had seen Monday Morning to spread the St. Patty’s Day spirit. The video is a Disney Pixie Hollow Short about fairies who use the end of a rainbow as a slide. It’s a cute video that I thought others would appreciate. You can see the post here.
The next Daily Create was “What Does Confusion Look Like?” I put a twist on the prompt and put in a picture of what confusion feels like to me. When I’m confused, it’s like I’m hearing the words but they’re not registering in my brain. When I was making the post, I wanted to make it clear that the words are going in one ear and out the other but I’m trying to comprehend them. I used Canva to make this post. I took a stick figure sticker and a line from my math notes to put through the figure’s ears. I also took a scrambled letters picture and put it on the figure’s head to show what he was thinking.

The last daily create I did was creating a message with a punch card. My message said “Everything is Not as it Seems,” which is the title theme song from Wizards of Waverly Place. I was inspired by Wizards of Waverly Place because I loved it when I was a kid, and I noticed that when you clicked on the punch card website, the address it lists as an example is located in Waverly Place, New York.

Comments
At the beginning of the week I found it difficult to find things to comment on, but as the week went on it got easier. I started the week by commenting on Cinder’s Daily Create talking about their St. Patrick’s Day tradition, I commented “That’s such a sweet tradition. I love that you kept it alive so many years later.” I thought it was so nice that they had kept up a tradition that has beenn around since they were a kid. I won’t lie, I’m a bit envious that there were so many cool traditions that people had for St. Patrick’s Day, I guess my family is lame. The next post I commented on was Ryee’s DC for the Confusing Picture Prompt. They posted a picture about the upcoming MCU movies saying that they are too confusing now, and I completely agreed. I said, “This is so real, and the sad thing is it’s not even good anymore. I had no problem watching all the movies until No Way Home, and I loved WandaVision and Hawkeye. It’s too much mediocre content and it’s coming out too fast.” I was a big Marvel fan, and when I rewatch the older projects I remember why I loved it, but I feel like they are focusing on quantity over quality and I miss the old movies. The next thing I commented on was the video promo by Sincerely, Kristen. Kristen is in my group so I was excited to see the promo she came up with, and I thought it came out good. I commented, “This came out so good! I love the flashy transitions and the music in the background. I think this promo is a great reflection of our show and the content we’ll produce.” In the video description, Kristen said she used Canva templates to make the video which is something I can relate to because I like the transitions on Canva since they’re so easy to apply. The next post I commented on was Noir You Didn’t’s Design Project, I thought they did a good job of capturing the TechNoir essence. I said, “I like the broken hearts. They’re not the signature broken hearts, and they look like glass hearts that a bullet shot straight through. I know you said you wanted to reflect the TechNoir theme, and I think the black, broken hearts add to it.” I thought their design promo was a good example of what a podcast promo should look like. The last thing I commented on was Alewis22’s Daily Create where they posted for the Confusing Picture prompt, they posted the black/blue or gold/white dress. I said, “Similar to this, have you seen the pink or teal shoe? I can see both, but apparently, it’s supposed to say something about your brain.” I’ll leave a picture of the shoe for those interested. I enjoyed commenting this week because I feel like I normally comment on the same people’s posts, but this week I was able to break out of that bubble.

Radio Show
My progress for the radio show is going well. I was working hard to create some quality work for this show. The first thing I made was the advertisement. The advertisement assignment took the most time to craft, because I had to create a product and a script for ad but once I had everything recorded it was very easy and quick to make. The next thing I made was the podcast intro. The advertisement took me almost no time, so I was on a roll when I decided to make the intro which ended up taking the most time. I struggled to find the audio pieces I wanted to use and how to fit them in to the intro. At one point, I scrapped the whole thing and started over. I like how it came out but I can’t listen to it too much because I can hear every little mistake. The last thing I made was the design promo, which was the easiest assignment. I made a bumper sticker so I looked on the internet to gather some ideas on what it should look like. I also used Canva templates to help me out. The most work I had to do for this assignment was creating a steering wheel graphic with lighting bolts to symbolize a horn honking. I think all my assignments came out good, some I think are better than others but that’s pretty normal for the work in this class.
Final Thoughts
I really enjoyed the work this week and even though it took me a long time, I think the work reflects my efforts. Normally, I end my summary saying how I’m excited for next week, but I am honestly a little nervous. Although I am excited to see the finished product, I’m a little nervous to record and edit the podcast. Hopefully next week I’ll look back at my apprehensiveness and laugh.
